LP File editing:
Making the LP files in the game.
Activate tool: Ctrl Alt Shift ` (Done
in the game, and during a testing session, won't work otherwise.)
Turn it on by pressing: Alt R (If you do not turn
it on, the line will not save as you drive)
Select line: Ctrl [ or ] (Use this to select the line you want to modify
or create. Ex: If you're making the race.LP file, select race by pressing "Ctrl" + "[" or "]")
Start point: [ (Should
be self explainatory, where the line you are making/modifying will start, can be anywhere on the track)
End Point:
] (Also self explainatory, where the end point in the AI line is, should be as close to the start point as you can get it)
Clear start/end points: \ (Use this if you mess up creating the line. Say when you are driving the line, you spin
or something, use the "\" key to clear the start and or end point and start over)
View line: Ctrl ` (When you have
set the start and end points of the line, I turn off the line editor by pressing "Alt R" and then press "Ctrl `" to view the
line.)
Save line: Shift / (Then, while viewing the line, that is when I like to save it, press "Shift /" to do so.
The file will appear in your track folder, and it will be called reflap0.LP. Rename that to the line you modified/created)
------------------------------------
A quick beakdown of the different lines:
race- the primary racing
line (This is the line that all of the AI will follow around the track while racing, provided that they are single file)
maxrace-
the innermost position used for racing (This is the innermost boundary the AI will use for racing. They will not race below
this line. When creating a left turn oval track LP file, this line is on the left side of the track).
minrace- the
outermost position used for racing (Same as above, only outermost boundary. On a left hand turning oval, this line is on the
right side of the track)
pit0- primary groove used on a pit lap (Similar to race.LP, only it is used for pitting.
This is the line the AI will use for pitting. Make sure you drive down pit road making this line).
pit1- primary groove
used for second pit(if present) (Same as before, only for second pit)
maxpit0- the innermost position used on a pit
lap (innermost boundary used by the AI for pitting. Also must go down pit road.)
minpit0- the outermost position used
on a pit lap (Outermost position used by the AI on a pit lap, they will not go outside this line. Special Note: The 3 Pit
.LP files must also follow the pit entry and exit merge rules.)
maxpit1- for second pit
minpit1- for second
pit
maxpanic- innermost position used in a panic situation (The furthest to the inside of the track the AI will go
in order to avoid a crash)
minpanic- outermost position used in a panic situation (The furthest to the outside of
the track the AI will go in order to avoid a crash)
limp- line used for damaged cars to get back to the pits. (Ex:
When an AI car blows an engine, they will follow this line back to the pits. Special note: This line does not go down pit
road)
raceline- defines the groove (I don't beleive this effects the AI at all, this line just shows breaking points
on the track. This line is made driving at full speed, although it may take a few tries to get it right, depending on the
track.) ------------------------------------
